IMMU is partnered with UCB, a non-traded pharmaceutical company, and is close to initiating a Phase II b Clinical Trial with epratuzumab in Lupus (a rheumatologic disease). 

The North Central Cancer Treatment Group of NCI has reached its patient enrollment goal for its Phase II clinical trial incorporating epratuzumab, rituximab as well as CHOP (an old chemo therapy regimen) for patients with previously untreated Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma (A solid blood cancer). 

The Children Oncology Group of NCI is conducting a Phase II clinical trial with epratuzumab and combination chemotherapy for children diagnosed with relapsed Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (A “liquid” blood cancer).

GTX, INC. (GTXI:Nasdaq) – Toremifene Citrate Meets Primary and Key Endpoints in Phase III

GTx is a biotech/pharmaceutical company that operates in the US.  GTx particpates in the development of therapeutic agents aimed at destroying cancer as well as treating osteoporosis, bone loss, muscle wasting, and other medical conditions.

GTx’s announced today that its novel, anit-cancer drug, Toremifene Citrate 80 mg had met the Primary and Key Endpoints in it’s Phase III Clinical Trial in Advanced Prostate Cancer Patients on Androgen Deprivation Therapy.  This outcome may very well lead to a rise in stock price.

IMMUNOMEDICS INC (IMMU:Nasdaq) – Epratuzumab: New Monoclonal Antibody Agent

Immunomedics, Inc. is a unique biopharmaceutical company that is chiefly involved in creating therapeutic agents that primarily involve monoclonal antibody technology.  The formerly mentioned monoclonal antibody products are targeted against cancer as well as other chronic medical disorders including rheumatologic diseases.

Currently IMMU is recruiting human subjects for a phase 2 clinical trial that combines Epratuzumab and Rituximab (another monoclonal antibody product) in hopes of treating Follicular, Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (a solid, blood cancer).  Results will be forthcoming.

Pharmasset, Inc. (Nasdaq: VRUS)-3 Agents in the Pipeline.

Pharmasset (VRUS:Nasdaq) is a pharmaceutical company geared towards developing oral treatments for chronic viral infections.  At this time the company is focusing on agents directed against Hepatitis B, C as well as HIV.  Currently, Pharmasset is in the process of evaluating three potential therapeutic agents.

Clevudine is under development for treatment of chronic HBV infection.  At this time Pharmasset is enrolling Phase 3 clinical trials for registration in North, Central and South America and Europe. Clevudine is currently approved for the treatment of HBV in South Korea.

R7128 is an oral treatment for chronic Hepatitis C infection.  At this time R7128 is in a 4-week Phase 1 clinical trial in combination with the standard treatment for Hepatitis C, namely Pegasys plus Copegus.  This trial was made possible by Pharmasset allying itself with Roche.

Racivir is an anti-HIV drug.  Racivir is being developed as an agent that can be incorporated in a multiple drug  treatment regimen.  It has completed a phase 2 clinical trial and results are pending.

Novelos Therapeutics, Inc. (OTCBB: NVLT) – Drug: NOV-25

(NVLT.OB)Novelos Therapeutics, Inc. completed its phase 1b trial of NOV-25 for the treatment of Hepatitis C in November of 2007 with positive results.  My Novelos contact informs me that another trial will be initiated this year but the timing of this trial is not yet certain.  A favorable result from NOV-205 has the potential to be lucrative for this company.

TopoTarget (OMX: TOPO)-Drug: APO010

TopoTarget (OMX: TOPO) is a biotechnology company, based in Denmark with subsidiaries in Germany, Switzerland, US and Britian.  It is currently developing APO010, an anti-cancer drug that fights “solid tumors”, such as colon cancer as opposed to “liquid tumors”, such as leukemia.  The drug was well tolerated by all patients in the phase I trial in 2007 which is promising.  More results are expected in mid 2008.  TopoTarget may very well be a stock to put in your sights.
